Study habits and recall

Most people have excellent memories. We are able to learn without knowing that we are learning or how we are learning. Stress and pressure, however can severely limit our ability to learn and recall in a way that is either useful or efficient.

Over the years, in my practice, I have encountered many people who claim their memory is failing. Closer examination and questioning often reveals that stress and pressure tend to be common underlying elements in the seeming inability to store and recall information as required. Problems such as motivation and procrastination (link) further exacerbate the pressure of learning in both academic and business environments. It is no secret that we all learn and remember best when relaxed.

We have all been in a situation where we have struggled to remember something, having it on the tip of our tongue, but unable to come up with the answer no matter how hard we try. Isn’t it curious how the answer will pop into our head a little later when we are not trying to force it? Hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis can train the mind to relax and focus, thus allowing the correct storage and subsequent recall of required information.
